BIO
"I was born with music inside me. Music was one of my parts. Like my ribs, my kidneys, my liver, my heart. Like my blood. It was a force already within me when I arrived on the scene. It was a necessity for me - like food or water."
- Ray Charles -
Ken Monteiro is an acoustic musician based out of the South Shore area of Massachusetts. Playing music for the majority of his life, Ken brings his seasoned voice and instrumental talent to a restaurant, bar, venue or club near you. Believing that an audience needs to relate to the music, Ken blends a mix of modern and classic favorites from the rock and country genres.
Ken first started playing guitar at the age of 7 on a Classical Madeira guitar. Roy Clark was one of Ken’s early guitar influences and after seeing him in concert Ken was determined to learn how to play the guitar. He started taking guitar lessons and after the music store closed, due to a fire, Ken became self-taught.
Eventually trading the classical guitar for an electric, he started his first band, where he learned he could sing as well as he could play the guitar. His passion became singing with playing guitar being a close second.
After years of playing in desired establishments and being the lead singer of some popular local bands (Blind Spot, Too Loud, Naughty Pine and Witzend to name a few), Ken decided to head out on his own to become the best solo musician he could be, while continuing to hone his skills daily.
Ken loves to play songs that people have grown up with and songs that spark memories. He also loves to learn songs that people request because it broadens his musical horizons. “Sometimes those songs end up being my favorites to play since I would never have picked them on my own”, he states.
Ken combines the right amount of professionalism and fun into every show. He is grateful for every opportunity to showcase
his talent.
